Travelling with the baby

The question we get asked most often when we arrive somewhere new is how we deal with travelling with a baby. So far so good, and the past few days have been much better now that her 6th tooth is out. We definitely have different considerations, like impromptu stops by the side of the road to let out some energy, and trying to be back in time for bed. We turn around when someone might be yelling at us instead of assuming it´s a tout, as one of us generally throws a sock-shoe-hat overboard around once a day. There´s also a lot more planning what to eat and when, and we´re eating more boiled carrots and broccoli than we would on previous trips. Nights are a little tougher than at home as we don´t want to disrupt other people´s sleep by letting her cry it out. On the flip side, we´ve been upgraded to a bigger room a few times.

Lucky for us, most people seem excited to see her. On the boat trip, one family chose the seats behind us so they could play with her (apparently she beat out the beautiful scenery outside) and she had a temporary Israeli grandma for an hour on the bus, which was a welcome break for us. When the bus dropped us off at our hotel, the whole bus chimed ´Bye Evelyn´! How come we never got that kind of farewell on our own?

Her Grandpa Y will be happy to know that the people in Chile, locals and travellers alike, point and comment that her feet are cold when we leave her in her barefeet because she´s pulling off her socks and shoes even though it´s 20C out.
